Consolidating scattered VPN information into visually managed objects

eSight allows users to specify a VPN discovery policy and scope to suit actual situations. eSight visually displays the discovered VPN services, including services that rely on devices from third-party vendors. This automated service discovery simplifies O&M tasks for VPNs.


Clearly displaying services and service status

eSight displays detailed service and service status information such as the link running status, link enable/disable status, alarm status, and service availability.


Safeguarding the quality and reliability of key services

In industries such as energy, government, finance, and electric power, services must be highly reliable, with the highest priority given to specific services and users. O&M management can help ensure reliability and manage service priorities in two ways. First, monitoring identifies problems and detects potential issues in a timely manner. Second, fault diagnosis identifies fault causes for rapid service recovery. The eSight solution offers these monitoring and fault-diagnosis capabilities:


Monitoring

eSight takes into account the following three aspects: fault monitoring, performance monitoring, and network quality evaluation.
Fault monitoring: After receiving a device alarm, eSight analyzes the alarm impact on services, displays the fault status in the service topology and service list, and immediately notifies O&M personnel by way of email and SMS. The O&M personnel can learn about the alarm and directly go to the alarm page to check the specific alarm information and fault causes. This approach helps the O&M personnel rapidly find fault causes.


Performance monitoring: For VPN services, eSight enables users to primarily focus on interface traffic and VRF traffic. eSight monitors these two indicators, presents them in graphical form, and allows users to export the information in reports. In addition, eSight allows users to set multi-level thresholds for these indicators so that the system can issue different customized warnings. This approach makes alarms more meaningful. eSight also provides detailed historical data to facilitate in-depth analysis and provide a basis for subsequent network optimization.


Network quality evaluation: eSight's network quality evaluation mechanism allows users to set higher service compliance for specific services and users. If services fail to meet these requirements, an alarm is sent immediately to the O&M personnel. The ability to set indicator thresholds and weights is crucial because the important values vary from service to service. For voice services, for example, personnel need to focus on delay, packet loss, and jitter indicators. eSight makes the calculated compliance information easy to grasp by displaying it in numeric and graphic forms. Historical quality data provides a basis for subsequent network optimization.


Fault diagnosis

After a service fault occurs, rapid service recovery is key to O&M. eSight's MPLS VPN management component provides multiple testing and diagnosis tools to help users rapidly complete fault diagnosis, find a fault's root causes, and accelerate service recovery.
