Network Management Solutions for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Information technology and applications are growing fast, and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have widely deployed various types of network equipment to support their key IT applications. If an enterprise lacks efficient network management, the entire network system will become a "black box" that is invisible and difficult to manage. These situation results in higher costs for network O&M because regular manual operations must be performed to ensure system usability and could also lead to network interruption or even failure in all IT applications.

Visualized physical topology

Using topology overlay technology, the eSight can automatically discover network topologies and uniformly manages Layer 2 and Layer 3 topologies and associated links. IP-based Layer 3 links and Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)-based Layer 2 links can be displayed on the same plane topology graph. The effect of the visualized physical topology is better than that of the network topology drawn using the Visio tool. In addition, the topology can be adjusted dynamically based on network conditions.

Users can quickly acquire the following information from the network topology:

− Network condition: whether the network is in good or bad condition

− Network connections: how equipment is connected, which helps users quickly locate network connection issues

Unified resource management

When conducting regular network-level maintenance, we pay primary attention to possible network abnormalities, for example, heavy-loaded equipment, frequently occurring alarms, and heavy-traffic links. The eSight can uniformly monitor equipment from Huawei, Cisco and H3C, and its unique portal feature allows users to define the management information that they are most interested in so they can easily follow network events.

Users can quickly acquire the following information from the homepage:
− Top N alarms: quick query of network failures
− Top N performance: performance data such as CPU and memory usage
− Classified statistics: statistics about network resources

Comprehensive equipment management

Apart from network-level evaluation, the eSight helps users comprehensively evaluate and manage single pieces of equipment. Users can easily acquire information about equipment load, response time, and link bandwidth occupation. The network element manager of the eSight provides full-scale equipment management and complete network information to users.

Proactive performance management

The eSight proactively prevents network performance issues by taking three steps: creating performance tasks, monitoring operation data, and reporting cross-performance threshold alarms.
