There are several defect in the trad video surveillance system, such as: picture is indistinct, anomalies cannot be indentified automatically, a lot of storage spaces are needed to save the surveillance information, and they are very expensive. For hotels, they spend a lot of money building a video surveillance system, but do not achieve the desired effect. Huawei helps hotels to build an intelligent HD video surveillance system relying on the experiences accumulation of many years in the field of video surveillance.

Application Scenarios

With so many people entering and leaving hotels, guest safety and property security cannot be ensured without an effective surveillance solution, a situation that directly affects hotel normal operation. Building a High-Definition (HD) and intelligent video surveillance system is an effective security method. Video surveillance systems typically require substantial storage space, which is costly. Huawei uses proprietary technology to significantly decrease storage usage and save investment costs.



Solution Overview

The hotel video surveillance system contains five components: front-end subsystem, network subsystem, management subsystem, storage subsystem, and monitoring center, as follows:


Basic Structure of Video Surveillance System


The front-end subsystem contains Internet Protocol (IP) cameras and analog cameras. In hotels, most areas should select IP dome cameras and hemisphere cameras. Huawei suggests using analog hemisphere cameras in elevators, Standard Definition (SD) day/night dome cameras in entrances and exits, and hemisphere High-Definition (HD) day/night dome cameras in both ends of corridor (due to the distance).


The bearer network subsystem is based on the device surveillance network. It is an absolute IP network that physically segregates guest room networks and office networks in the access layer, sharing the gigabit core switch with the guest room network and the office network in the core layer.


The Huawei management subsystem comprises the Smart Network Video Recorder (NVR) system, which contains management, alarm, storage, and intelligence analysis, broadly cutting hotel investments.


For the storage subsystem, the Huawei IP video surveillance system provides Patented Optimized Key-Frame Storage technology, which recognizes and periodically deletes non key-frame until the video files are deleted, gradually freeing up storage space.


The monitoring center consists mainly of video decoders and screens.


1. HME provides a cost-effective HD video solution.

Transitioning from analog to digital video surveillance, and from SD to HD and the resulting higher image quality, requires an increase in storage investment; however, the Huawei IP video surveillance solution uses HME core media engineering technology on the premises, requiring half the storage space for the same picture quality (compared to the industry standard), saving 30 percent on storage resources.



2. Redundant storage availability enables more economical storage.

The Huawei IP video surveillance system provides Patented Optimized Key-Frame Storage technology, which detects and periodically deletes non key-frames until the video files are deleted. This differs from the industry standard method, which deletes all non-critical frames all at once. The Huawei system deletes non-key frames periodically, gradually freeing storage capacity. As a result, the Huawei Interactive Video Systems (IVS) system uses less storage resources to save video data for a longer time. On the premise of supporting Patented Optimized Key-Frame Storage technology in the front-end subsystem and control system, can save storage investment for users by 30%.



3. Network protection effectively improves system reliability.

NVR video surveillance system network reliability is an important reference for measuring the general reliability of video surveillance systems. Protecting video data must be considered. The Huawei video surveillance solution can save video data temporarily during network abnormalities by using broken network protection technology. When the network recovers, the video is transferred to the NVR, where it will be added to the normal video data to ensure that users are not aware of a problem.
