For the shopping mall owner, what are the main considerations of deploying a wireless infrastructure?
- Can it provide 100 percent coverage without leaving any blind spots?
- Can multiple users simultaneously enjoy the experience of a wireless network?
- Is it convenient to maintain?
- What are the functions of a mall’s wireless network besides administration, normal business operations, and Web surfing? What are its consumer benefits?
Huawei’s Wireless Mall Solution provides full wireless coverage by integrating a wireless Access Controller (AC) plus thin Access Points (APs), the eSight unified network management system, and floor access, aggregate, and core switches.
Thin APs are used for convenient centralized configuration and management. In Huawei’s solution, the wireless AC connects to the core switch and coordinates with the WLAN management module integrated in the eSight network management system to configure and maintain the wireless network. The solution also automatically forwards configurations to all APs in the network and provides RF management, channel allocation, and secure access.
Huawei AP products support 802.11a/b/g/n and offer MIMO functions. APs can multiply wireless channel capacity, significantly improve channel reliability, and lower the bit error rate. They are powered by the Power over Ethernet (POE) module in the floor access switch.
Wireless network access rights can be controlled by the unified authorization server, which works with both fixed and wireless networks. Billing and management can all be done in the central equipment room.
The wireless infrastructure is shown in the following diagram:
The Huawei Wireless Mall Solution creates a new standard configuration for wireless mall networks. By integrating a wireless network-based location module, it provides a high-quality wireless network. It also offers a series of value-added services such as store navigation, parked car location, e-coupon downloading via bar-code scans, and target marketing.

1. Simple and high-efficiency AC + thin AP network architecture
This architecture enables the AC to unify management of all the APs in a shopping mall, providing quick fault location and recovery, as well as simplifying maintenance.
2. Secure control policy for user group
A black-and-white list provides access control and bandwidth regulation, ensuring the security of the network and an enjoyable Web surfing experience by customers.
3. Intelligent multi-user schedule
Intelligent multi-user scheduling technology solves the problem of wireless network slowdown caused by multiple users’ simultaneous access. By detecting the number of users in real time, it can adjust channel parameters and balance traffic loads, ensuring the bandwidth and stability of the network and maintaining customers’ positive experience.
4. Convenient O&M tool
Huawei eSight has a variety of methods to monitor WLAN network quality in real time. Automatic field measurement tools for location dramatically lower maintenance costs.
