Application Scenarios
To consistently improve service quality, hotels use Internet Protocol (IP) telephones to replace traditional analog telephones stage-by-stage. IP telephones integrate rich hotel voice services such as welcome messages, do not disturb, wake-up service, voice-mail, mini-bar, information inquiry, etc. Analog phones may be used in such areas as bathrooms. Hotels, therefore, need a voice system that can support both analog phones and IP phones.
Solution overview
The Huawei converged voice solution uses a single IP network to carry voice information. It consists of a U1900 Catena Private Branch Exchange (PBX), Integrated Access Device (IAD), attendant console, Unified Communications (UC) server, IP phones, and a hotel management system. PBX exports voice from the hotel and connects with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) through an E1 interface. The IAD device is responsible for accessing analog phones. The attendant console supports telephone operation, and the UC server carries voicemails and welcome messages. Guests can enjoy rich services through a visual interface. The Huawei converged voice solution architecture is illustrated below:
Converged Voice Solution
1. Smooth evolution from Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM) to IP construction simplifies hotel voice deployment
The converged voice solution supports a mixed TDM and IP network, enabling flexible deployment of analog and IP phones, significantly reducing wiring and maintenance costs. Huawei also provides an access solution for larger numbers of analog phones (the maximum access number of analog phones for a single IAD is 224), providing an economic and efficient deployment strategy for switching from an analog system to an IP system.
2. Open and synergistic voice system allows easy expansion, improving office efficiency.
The U1900 is a highly integrated access gateway comprising voice conferencing and voice-mail and supporting Web services configuration. It also can be used for soft switch devices and access gateways to significantly reduce deployment difficulty and save on investment. The U1900 with Huawei’s UC server improves hotel collaboration and enables efficient deployment of such services as IP phones, soft phones, etc. At the same time, deep co-operation with partners’ Provider Multicast Service (PMS) / Provider Multicast Service Interface (PMSI) can effectively support the hotel's various services.
