Application Scenarios
Since hotels are public places, they need a real-time monitoring system. Hoteliers must build video surveillance systems in lobbies, stairwells, hallways, entrances, exits, parking lots, elevators, etc.
Solution Overview
The Huawei Internet Protocol (IP) video surveillance system was designed for economy hotels, providing ideal cost-effective but high quality video surveillance. The solution consists of five components: video cameras, the transmission network, video image management platform, storage, and surveillance center, as illustrated below:
Basic Video Surveillance System Structure
Video cameras include both IP and analog cameras. Most hotel areas will use IP dome cameras and hemisphere cameras. Huawei suggests analog hemisphere cameras in elevators and high-definition dome video cameras at both ends of hallways.
Transmission network includes access switches and a core switch, with the access switches connecting video cameras and the core switch connecting the video image management platform.
Storage is used to store monitoring data. Huawei’s patented Optimized Key-Frame Storage technology recognizes and periodically deletes non key-frames to free storage space, while fully meeting future tracing requirements.
Video image management platform features the Smart NVR (Network Video Recorder) solution, which includes management, alarms, storage, and intelligence analysis.
Surveillance center consists of a video decoder and viewing monitor.
1. Huawei Media Engine (HME) patented encoding technology
Using Huawei’s patented encoding technology, a video quality of 1080p @ 25 fps only requires 4 Mbps, which is half the typical industry storage space required, reducing storage needs by 30 percent.
2. Patented optimized key-frame storage technology
The patented Optimized Key-Frame Storage technology recognizes and periodically deletes non key-frames to free storage space, while fully meeting future tracing requirements, reducing storage by 30 percent.
3. Broken-network protection for improved system reliability
How can the network deal with video information when the transmission network has broken down? The Huawei video surveillance solution can temporarily save video information from the cameras. When the transmission network recovers, the video information will be transferred to the Smart NVR, where it is automatically and seamlessly restored to the normal video.
