Huawei Unified Gateway eSpace U2980

The eSpace U2980 is an access platform with powerful and flexible networking capabilities, integrating broadband and narrowband services. Based on mTCA architecture, it integrates voice and media capabilities, acting as a universal server, and provides highly secure and reliable communications services. The eSpace U2980 uses multiple cascaded frames to support a maximum of 50,000 subscribers.

Service Access and Media Resource Capabilities

  • Integrates voice and media capabilities and acts as a universal server, reducing the cost of investment
  • Provides customizable functions such as voice file playing, digit collection, fax, and conferencing

  • Powerful and Flexible Networking Capabilities

  • Supports the use of E1/T1 trunks to connect to traditional Private Branch eXchange (PBX) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)
  • Enables the use of SIP Trunks to connect to the IP PBX and Next Generation Network (NGN)/IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS)
  • Handles centralized and distributed networking modes

  • High Reliability

  • Hardware reliability: All components support redundancy, ensuring system reliability as high as 99.999%
  • Software reliability: Layered and modularized architecture ensures effective system protection, error tolerance, and fault detection
  • Overload control: The system provides multiple overload control mechanisms, such as four-level overload restriction and CPU flow control

  • High Security

  • Protects networks from attacks
  • Supports encryption for both Transport Layer Security (TLS) signaling and Security Real Time Protocol (SRTP) media
  • Provides strict data protection mechanisms and hierarchical subscriber authority management

  • Smooth Expansion

  • A single frame supports 10,000 subscribers. When multiple frames are cascaded, the eSpace U2980 supports up to 50,000 subscribers. This flexible design facilitates capacity expansion.

The eSpace U2980 supports single-center networking and connects to carrier networks through broadband or narrowband trunks, providing access services for analog gateways, SIP users, and UC users. It employs an application/management server to provide basic call services and a variety of UC services.

Branch offices can use the U1900 series or EGW1500 series as local voice gateways, depending on branch size. The U1900 and EGW1500 series gateways provide local regeneration function.

With built-in UC services, the eSpace U2980 provides an all-in-one UC solution.

eSpace U2980 Single-center networking

The eSpace U2980 also supports dual-center networking, where two centers work in Active-Active mode to implement geographic redundancy.

The two centers work in mutual backup mode and provide UC services simultaneously, ensuring high reliability.
